Clusty A serious player in the search engine world, Clusty (powered by parent company Vivisimo) is growing stronger every day. It uses special clustering technology to produce sets of similar results for the original search query, placed beside the most relevant results listing. You can also easily generate clustered results for each result from a previous search. This metasearch engine should not be underestimated! It is one of the best on the web.
Kartoo Arguably the Web's funkiest search tool, Kartoo has a graphical interface that resembles a series of mind maps, as results are interconnected. Not for the beginner, but a joy for advanced Web searchers. Helps if you have braodband. Read the help pages first. No ads!
Turbo 10 Turbo 10 is unusual because technically it is one of the few meta-directories on the Web, but for now we'll call it a metasearch engine instead. It has a database of specialist search engines (or directories) on very specific topics. As a result, Turbo 10 claims to search areas of the Web the big players simply ignore - known as the Deep Net. You can tailor your own favourite list of up to ten search engines and save them in the engine database using cookies, so each time you return, you can either search the entire database or only your private set of search engines.
iBoogie iBoogie uses clustering technology to produce results beside the most relevant listings in topics appropriate to the original search. This metasearch engine gives very accurate results for queries and has a few handy features including new windows for each click on a search result and the ability to expand the cluster topics and show all results for a particular query.
Dogpile An early metasearch engine player, Dogpile is still one of the best in its field. This is partly because of the various search engines it scours, which include some of the biggest on the Web. Dogpile is a very good metasearch engine.
Mamma What began as a Masters thesis, grew into one of the best metasearch engines around. Mamma is becoming more popular every day. Produces very relevant results.
ixquick Great metasearch engine that produces highly relevant results. You can also select specific engines to search via check boxes. Sponsored listings appear at the top and right of each page.
